Sad Note regarding Bob Dugard

Longtime Southern Section Coach/
Track and Field Administrator

Bob Dugard passed away on Tuesday evening (10-14-2003), we have been informed.

As one longtime friend within the Southern Section shared with us, his condition was such that the timing of his passing might have come to a point where it it was possibly opportune for Mr. Dugard, in terms of the state of his health. We would like to offer our condolences to all relatives and friends of this fine man, who spent a huge portion of his life guiding youth.

Sad Note regarding Bob Dugard - longtime Southern Section Coach/Track and Field Administrator - From Louis Ramirez Jr

Last Monday Robert " Bob" Dugard suffered what is believed a stroke, he is currently unconscious and is not expected to regain consciousness. He has been coaching for a very long time, my first encounter with him, was in 1972, when he was the coach at Sierra High School (Whittier). Started the Cal-Sierra Invitational which was the pre-curser to the El Rancho Relays. He was recently enshrined in the High school hall of fame as a Track & Cross-country coach. He was also a starter during Track season. He has influence many to contribute to the sport of cross-country and Track & field. Please inform all your readers and associates who have been touched by this special man.

Thanks,
Louis Ramirez, Jr.
