Northern Section Cross-Country Finals - Preview for 11/14 Affair - Can Tim Nelson (Liberty Christian) emerge as Section's best ever!!!

Northern Section Preview - Championship competition - Thur 11/14 - West Valley HS of Cottonwood

Tim Nelson (Liberty Christian, Redding) readies for end of great prep harrier championship career with Section Finals run this Thursday!!! He's Currently ranked #6 in the United States as an individual by Harrier Magazine!!!

Can Tim Nelson (Liberty Christian, Redding) place himself in the minds of locals as "best ever locally (?)," (he has our vote), as the Liberty Christian HS of Redding enters the final part of his senior year in the harrier sport in super shape. A series of record and winning efforts have been tempered against competition against the best in the Western United States, with his camp noted for very nicely timed peaks the end of each of the last couple year's seasons in the Fall and Spring. We are not sure if money was placed in the bank for the Redding area star this week in training (another week of good workouts as we plan for things about a month ahead in San Diego at Foot Locker Nationals), but if rested, pull out the record book on the West Valley HS of Cottonwood course where the Section Meet is at, because a solid effort could have them all go, and we are inclined to think they are a respectable lot at the top of the list!!

This is a smaller section, with all schools running together. Pleasant Valley (Chico) seems to be peaking nicely on the Boys and Girls side, with the #1 ranked in Section Vikings hot off strong efforts in the Eastern Athletic League Finals where the Boys totalled 34 and the Girls 42 against #2 ranked squads on both sides from Enterprise (Redding). Janessa Hoppe (Enterprise, Redding) has been running a course record pace a number of times this Fall, marking an over 30 second win against #2 ranked in Section Amy Tietz (Pleasant Valley) in the Eastern League affair. Keen eyes will be comparing the efforts of the Div IV Yreka Girls with others statwide over the next week and a half, with the traditional power there hoping to ride the leading efforts of Lauren Quinn to respectability statewide in two weeks in Fresno. Sub 1:54 800 star Kenny Frank (Enterprise) is a fine Division III runner.

Best of luck to the far north as they prep for Championship time, with often quite challenging training conditions through mid and late November, and some interesting drives often from their area of the State down to Fresno for the big fun run there!!!

Cottonwood Weather for the Week (always an issue up north this time of year!!!) - Wow - mostly sunny and 67 degrees - ready for quick action!!!
