43rd L.A. INVITATIONAL INDOOR TRACK MEET SET FEBRUARY 15

• Deadline to return High School Questionnaires is Nov. 25

The Los Angeles Invitational indoor track meet, the nation’s second
oldest undercover meet, will return for its 43rd year to the Los Angeles
Sports Arena, Saturday, February 15, 2003, co-chairmen Al and Don
Franken announced.

The classic meet will embrace its usual formula of world class events,
collegiate standouts and nearly 2000 high school athletes from 500
schools. The event is second only to the Millrose Games in New York
among the nation’s track meets in history. A total of 105 Olympic gold
medalists and dozens of world and American record holders have competed
over the years, in the L.A. Invitational.

The L.A. Invitational will be the only indoor meet in California and
will launch the 2003 season which will culminate with the World
Championships in Paris. Top American and U.S. stars who set record
breaking performances during the hot summer of 2002 will be invited to
compete. The meet also offers the opportunity to the nation’s top
collegians to share the spotlight with the Olympic stars. College
standouts from local track powerhouses USC and UCLA, along with stars
from Stanford, Washington, Arizona, etc., are expected to compete in the
L.A. Invitational.

The high school and youth portion of the L.A. Invitational is one of
the largest in the country, a classic in itself. The best returning prep
stars in the state and top national standouts will be invited in
participate. All the great past and present track stars with Southern
California roots have competed in the meet.

High school questionnaires to survey potential entrants have been
mailed to track coaches at over 500 high school throughout California.
Deadline to return the questionnaires is November 25. Questionnaires can
