Some of this weekend's Mt. SAC stars - comments about this weekend's affair at Walnut

The Mt. SAC Meet is always one of the seasonal highlights of the Fall campaign for runners. The scope of 15,000 athletes over two days, capped with a magnificent, viewable course, superb meet management, rich history, and a blend of other circumstances that simply make it the best is so meaningful to those involved in the actual running. Many of life's most cherished memories are created during and around contests on the challenging course run over by athletes this weekend. We caught up with a few of the State's best "on-line" over the last evening or two, and asked them to comment on this weekend's affair:

Liza Pasciuto - Murrieta Valley -

"Mt. Sac to me is my first big race; the one to get the most ready for, the one to get more stressed about, and the one to have more fun at. :) The course really makes the race more challenging which is something every true athlete enjoys. I love how many teams this meet attracts, which raises the competition level. I'm really excited to see all of my friends from other areas as well! I wish the ***Best of Luck*** to all the runners at the invite this weekend!!! ~Shoot for the moon, even if you miss you will land among the stars~

Love,
Liza Pasciuto :)

.Tim Nelson - Liberty Christian, Redding

I am looking forward to the Mt. SAC meet. It is always a fun meet with plenty of excitement and the course is challenging. Up until a day ago, I didn't really know who was running, but after I saw who is entered in the sweepstakes race, I could see that it should be a fast race.

On this course, you really don't have any choice but to run a hard race from start to finish. The first mile is fast and the hills are tough. That is what makes this course so much fun - running hard on a tough
course can be quite enjoyable. Good luck to all the runners and have fun!!!

Rachel Bryan - Laguna Creek, Elk Grove

Rachel at Clovis Invitational - Eric Pedersen

Although highly competitive meets like this one cause a lot of nervousness, I do look forward to them because they provide a great opportunity to really get to know your competition much better and they push you to work harder, and, hopefully, break through some barriers to improve racing strategies and skills as a result. Being able to race on this course in particular is also extremely beneficial in preparing for the Footlocker Regional by allowing people to become more familiar - or reacquainted - with this rigorous course rather than feeling as though they've been "thrown" into it when Regionals do come around. And, if nothing else, this is definitely a fun experience for cross-country runners and a very exciting one for spectators! Good luck to everyone!

Mt. Sac is one of the most grueling courses anywhere and at times grueling, but thats what makes it my favorite course. Quality runners come from all distances to paticipate which makes it a good chance for intense competion mid-way through the season. I've always loved how physically and mentally demanding the Mt. Sac course is and how I am given a chance to take my body to the very limit, testing how bad I really want it and running my absolute best. I enjoy the dirt path, the flat 1st mile, love the hills and even the cows on the back side of resevior..(: Personally this year I am extra excited to run the meet for one last time in high school, to go out there, enjoy myself and run faster than I ever have before. A quick encouragement to Maranatha Cross Country, lets run our hearts out and give all the glory to the Lord Jesus Christ!!
