Meet Preview - 10/18-19 Monterey Bay Invitational - Toro Park (CCS) - Allen Green

Meet Preview - Monterey Bay Invitational - Toro Park - Fri 10/18 and Sat 10/19 - Allen Green

Monterey Bay Invitational to be held at beautiful Toro Park 10 miles from the Montery Coast and beaches of Carmel. I will attempt to do my best at a meet preview. All of the boys teams ranked in ccs are competing plus Bonita Vista (San Diego #6), Roosevelt (Central #1 in DII), Enterprise (Northern #1), Mendota (Central #4? DIII) and many other schools (78 total schools in the meet). Roosevelt is the defending champion beating Enterprise and Moreau Catholic in a very close threeway battle last year. Throw in all of the Central Coast Section talent like North Monterey County, Silver Creek, Bellarmine, et al. This year should be even closer!!! The girls races should be equally strong with 13 of the top 15 schools in our section teams competing. SLV should lead this outstanding sweeps race competition. Enterprise #2 and Bonita Vista #9 should also challenge our section schools for high places in the sweeps. Unfortunately, bacause of PSAT testing on Saturday some of the incredible talent will be split between the Friday and Saturday portions of the meet. Friday's, boys competition should be between Salinas, Carmel and Mipitas. Locals Patrick Parcels(Carmel) and David Muerer (Salinas) are 2 very good individual runners. Expect to see Jeremy Mineau (Menlo Atherton and Alex Dunn (SLV) challenge the course record of 15:24 held by Ben Morales (San Benito). The girls on Friday look to be Milpitas, Gunn, and Salinas. Again many quality runners, but I would expect Ruth Graham (Gunn) to go after the course record of 18:02 held by Casey Nevitt (Aptos). Casey and a whole slew of talented runners will run on Saturday after seeing the marks from Friday!!!! Kenny Frank (Enterprise is the defending individual champion) and is looking for a repeat in the boys championship race. I hope he brings his best race because there is a bunch of talent to challenge him. This is exciting!!! Mark McConnell is doing the results (he is the best!) and will send them to you and the other web sites as soon as possible. Thanks for everything. Good luck and the best of Competition to all of the Runners! Alan Green (Meet Director - North Salinas High School)
