2002 Bronco Cross Country Invitational
Dear Coach: August 1, 2002

We are pleased to invite your team to the Third Annual Bella Vista Bronco Cross Country Invitational (Bronco Invitational) to be held on Saturday, October 19th at Sierra College in Rocklin. It is our goal to provide your team with an enjoyable and competitive experience on one of the true championship cross country courses in California. The Sierra College Cross Country Course has not only been the traditional site for the Sac-Joaquin Section Championships for over twenty years, but has served as the host site for numerous junior college championships, the Big West Conference Championships, and the NCAA Division II Western Regional Championships.

Attached you will find a general information sheet and the entry forms for the Bronco Invitational. The meet has been expanded this year to include awards for both large (2002 California Interscholastic Federation [CIF] Divisions 1 and 2) and small school divisions (2002 CIF Divisions 3, 4, and 5) in all classifications except for the junior varsity girls and junior varsity boys. The divisional races (e.g.; large and small school) will be run simultaneously with the awards determined on relative divisional finish placement. Please pay special attention to the entry deadline of Wednesday, October 9, 2002. Depending on the number of schools responding and the space limitations of the starting line and finish areas at Sierra College, we may limit the number of participating schools. This would be determined on a “first come, first served” basis. As such, we encourage you to submit your entry forms in a timely manner. Also note that all races will be run over metric distances with freshman boys, sophomore boys, and freshman/sophomore girls competing at 3,000 meters; junior varsity girls and junior varsity boys at 4,000 meters, and varsity girls and varsity boys at 5,000 meters.

Bella Vista Bronco Cross Country Invitational – Meet Information

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Date: Saturday, October 19, 2002

Location: Sierra College
5000 Rocklin Road
Rocklin, CA 95677
Directions to Sierra College: The Sierra College Campus is located approximately 20 miles northeast of Sacramento. Take Interstate 80 (Capital City Freeway) east from Sacramento and exit on Rocklin Road. Go east on Rocklin Road approximately 0.7 miles to the main entrance of the Sierra College Campus and the student parking lots. A detailed location map of the Sierra College Campus is available here.

Sierra College Parking: Parking is available in the student parking lots adjacent to the college and the cross country course. For a detailed map see our website at (coming soon).

Sierra College Facilities: No lockers or showers will be available, so have your athletes come dressed to compete. Restroom facilities will be available adjacent to the "cross country course" in the Sierra College Men’s and Women’s Locker Rooms.

Sierra College Cross Country Course: The course is composed entirely of rolling, hard packed dirt trails with one (1) challenging hill in the 3,000 meter course and two (2) challenging hills on the 4,000 and 5,000 meter courses. No cross country spikes will be allowed, only cross country racing flats. Detailed course maps will be available on the day of the meet at the "Team Check-In Area" adjacent to the "Finish Line Area". Course maps are also available on our website at (coming soon).

Check-In Time and Location: Pick up your team packets at the "Team Check-In Area" adjacent to the "Finish Line Area" starting at 7:30 AM on race day.

Course Walk Through: The course will available for "walk-throughs" until 8:20 AM on race day – ten minutes before the start of the first race.

Race Classifications: Junior varsity teams should be composed of those freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior athletes who do not qualify as part of your "top seven" varsity team members.

Entry Forms: Please send the “Entry Form” (Form 1) in as soon as possible, but it must be received no later than Wednesday, October 09, 2002, to guarantee your school’s entry into the meet. Once you have submitted the “Entry Form”, your school is responsible for the $25.00 minimum school participation fee (whether your school participates or not). Submit your Girls Roster (Form 2) and/or Boys Roster (Form 3) no later than October 09, 2002. If you already have a team roster with the athlete’s school year and sex, this can be sent in lieu of Forms 2 and 3. (Note: For the computer program that will be used to score the team and individual results for the meet [HYTEK Meet Manager], we only need to know who will be competing and not what race they will be competing in. If you are not sure who will be competing for your teams, just list all of your possible athletes so that a race tag will be available for their participation.)

Entry Fees: The following entry fees will be charged:

- $ 7.00 per individual athlete
- $35.00 per team
- $25.00 per school (minimum)
- $105.00 per school (maximum)
