Diablo Valley College Hosts Viking Twilight Cross-Country Invitational

Several community colleges will meet tomorrow at Mt.Diablo State Park, Mitchell Canyon, to compete in the 1st Annual Viking Invitational (Diablo Valley host). Current entries are West Valley (Will Kraemer), San Joaquin-Delta (Ricky Cuevas), American River, Los Positas, Monterey Peninsula College, Merced, Sacramento CC and host DVC (Travis Butcher, Cassandra Goodson).

Both teams will tour either 3.0 (Women) or 3.9 (Men) mile courses over fire trail terrain, rolling hills, and gravel. An interesting battle looks to be looming in the men's race, as there are some fine individuals, as well two excellent teams in WVC and SJD. The women's side looks interesting as well, as SCC was narrowly nudged out by DVC last week at the Fresno Invitational. Cassandra Goodson of DVC was 6th last week at the Fresno Invitational while teammate Jenna George (Carondolet) was 15th.

Women's race at 4:00pm, Men at 4:30pm.

Oakland HS, Concord HS and Clayton Valley HS will compete over a 2.56 mile course immediately following the JC portion of the meet.
