Bronco Round-Up - San Diego Section - 9/14/02

Bronco Roundup - San Diego - Sat 9/14/02 -

Boys Division I Mt. Carmel, Poway, and Rancho Bernardo are all in the same district and have great traditions in the Fall cross-country and spring track seasons. There will be some good racing from those groups in the Division I contest. Elliott Davey (Mt. Carmel) was 4:23 for 1600m in the spring, with teammate Adam Goldberg 4:28-9:35 in the distances. Shea Rollin (Patrick Henry) was 9:44 for 3200 in track, with Ross Halleland 9:48 for the same distance. .
In Division II Hecgtor Gutierrez (El Capitan, Lakeside) was 4:31 in the spring for 1600, with Kip Madden (Valhalla, El Cajon) 9:47.

A great contest in the Girls Division I will be headlined by top individuals and teams! Lindsay dela Montaigne (Rancho Bernardo) impressed with a fastest of day frosh/soph win at the Wolfpack Invite last weekend, with 4:54 1600 star Danielle Schuster (Torrey Pines, Encinitas) close behind on the clock in another race. Mix in Claire Rethmeier and her San Pasqual teammates and this event absolutely cooks!!! San Pasqual has the #1 ranked team in the Western U.S. and Coach Pat King will be working on pulling the pack together for later championship running down the line. Hallah Barre (Mt. Carmel, San Diego) is another top individual trying to go with the lead pack here.
The Girls Division II contest is led by State ranked Carlsbad.
