Royal (Simi Valley) was the Western US’s most improved program last Fall, with Tim Hearst leading five back from the 2001 State Div I runner-ups!! McFarland, State Division IV power, has Victor Zavala leading a trio back from the State Championship squad of 2001, with Fillmore, led by Juan Mejia, and Oak Park, with Ken Brook and Igor Treguh both Div IV monsters! Santa Clara (Oxnard) has fine group back and rumors of a strong transfer, with Desert Christian (Lancaster) and Thacher (Ojai) other Div V powers!

It does not slow on the Girls’ side in this competition. Royal (Simi Valley) has six of its top seven back from a 6th place finishing statewide Div I group last year, with Sarah Montez leading. Canyon (CC) was eleventh as a team at State last year, with Brenda Stevens and Alysia Johnson strong up-front. Simi Valley was 9th in State Division II last year, with five back off that squad.
