Deena Drossin at 9/21 ASICS/Woodbridge Invite!!! former Agoura star now World Record Holder/Olympic level star!!!

WORLD RECORD HOLDER DEENA DROSSIN
TO APPEAR AT HIGH SCHOOL CROSS COUNTRY MEET - Woodbridge Invitational 9/21/02

Former Agoura HS star - 1987-1989-1990 California State Division I Cross-Country Champ - All-American University of Arkansas - now World Record Holder and Olympic level athlete - will be at the Woodbridge Invitational Cross-Country meet to sign autographs and talk to athletes. Seems like just a couple of years ago that she started under Coach Bill Duley at Agoura HS in a stunning manner as just a ninth grader in the first California State CC Meet (Agoura's Bryan Dameworth won the Boys Div I meet that year in an Agoura individual sweep!!). Great to see her continued impressive running and kudo's to ASICS for their support of Deena and for everyone for making her available in two weekends 9/21!!!

Irvine, CA (September 5, 2002) – Olympic distance runner Deena Drossin will make an appearance at the ASICS/Woodbridge (Irvine, CA) Invitational, one of the largest high school cross country meets in the country, on Saturday, September 21st, 2002. She will be appearing on behalf of her sponsor, ASICS TIGER Corporation, and will be available for autographs and photos at the ASICSâ booth.
Drossin, a former California state champion while at Agoura High School, has become one of the world’s best distance runners. A week later, Drossin broke the 5k-world record at the
Carlsbad 5000. Drossin is a six-time USATF cross country champion and last November, she set an American-record for a debut marathon, 2:26:58, at the New York City Marathonâ.
In early May, Drossin established a new American record for 10,000 meters, 30:50:52, at the Stanford Invitational. She broke Lynn Jennings’ long standing record by nearly 30 seconds.
ASICS is a proud sponsor of the ASICS/Woodbridge Invitational, which draws almost 200 high school teams from all over the western United States. With nearly 9,000 participants, the ASICS/Woodbridge Invitational is one of the largest high school sporting events in the country. ASICS will present awards to the top three athletes in each of the meet’s 27 races. The team champions in each race will be awarded commemorative ASICS t-shirts, as will the overall team champions.
