Rubidoux (Riverside) Time & Jesuit Trial Action - State's Top Two Ranked Div II Squads Preseason action!!! Rubidoux-- At the end of each summer, Coach Sam Gee has a fun run to see who, and where, his team is before the season starts.We will compare last years State Champs to this years team. The Falcons shorten the course to 2.45 miles for this early run in the Jurupa hills.Last yrs.team time was (63:25) this year (62:47) Gone are Lino Flores(12:08)Jose Lopez(12:41) and Salvador Rojas(13:08), who along with Antonio Jimenez(12:32)and Victor Ortiz(12:56)made up the top 5 at this race in 2001. This year it was Antonio Jimenez(11:47)Victor Ortiz(12:27)Mobin Ghoury(12:34)Adam Heredia(12:57)and the sophmore Jose Maganda(13:02).Efrain Guerrero(16:33 at mt.sac) who missed the last 2 weeks of summer due to illness, ran 13:48. he was the 4th or 5th man prior to his down time.Sophmore Baltazar Landa(16:47 at sac)is injured and did not run as is Marcos Pacheco(16:46 sac). 6th man right now is a freshman, Rudy Palacios(13:30) who beat 26 other falcons to make the varsity.Miguel Guerrero(13:32) rounds out the top 7.A.Jinenez(15:26 sac) time of 11:47 broke the old record of his Coach, Gabriel Hernandes(12:00)(15:15 at sac). Also Victor Ortiz(15:57 sac) improved 29 sec. over last yr as did Mobin Ghoury(15:46 sac) Last yrs. freshman,Maganda, improved 11 sec. If everyone gets healthy it could be quite a yr. Last years team time of 78:26 looks to be within reach, and another championship is possible.
