One of the early season highlights in the sport was the quick 400m running of Remington Blair (Reedley). With a 48.93 in the March third Spring Classic Meet he has quickly emerged as one of the Golden State’s best for the coming spring season. The Central Section Champ in the event in 2006 with a best of 48.58 achieved while running in the post-season Golden West Invitational, Remington is part of a super group of 400 meter runners back statewide. With a great start to this season, and some high goals we look for some good running as the Spring goes along and Remington challenges those who are t in the one-lap dash!!

Remington took some time out to answer some questions for us:

1) Briefly trace your successes in Track and Field over the last couple of years?

Time has been dropping and dropping.

2) What has been the single highlight performance of your running career so far?

The highlight of my running career would be winning the Central Section Championship in the 400 last year and breaking a 30 year old high school record.

3) Nice start with the 48.93 400 at the Sanger Spring Classic - what was your goal coming into the meet and what are your thoughts on the time?

My goal was to run at least a 50. The 48.93 was a good feeling. It made me feel like I haven’t lost any speed at all and I’m ready to go faster.

4) What other sports have you been involved with while you were growing up?

I played soccer, basketball, and football. I didn’t start running track until my freshmen year of high school.

5) Who has influenced you most by being in contact with you during your development as an athlete?

My parents and my Uncle Benny. They helped me get where I am.

6) Has there been an Olympic or Professional level athlete you have observed that you kind of model your style after (and why)?

Michael Johnson, of course. He had a kind of awkward style of running but he made it work.

7) Where do you hope that your running can take you in the future - goals this year and after that?

State and hopefully nationals. I also hope it can take me to a good college.

8) What could we find you doing if you were not involved with school or sports?

I don’t know, probably dead. Life would be to boring.

9) Some quick reaction questions--
make a choice and why--

fast food - mild or spicy and what kind?

Mild. I have to say Quiznos

music - style and latest favorite tune?

Rap. “Make It Rain” by Boo

movies - action or a nice story line? latest you saw---?

Action. Smokin' Aces.

track meets - more fun home or away - favorite facility/track you've run on?

Away. Buchanan Stadium.

central section - the most feared school to compete against and why?

South Bakersfield. Jason Ward.

400 meter dying at the end - worst experience - when and where?

Sophomore year at the valley meet. Wasn’t dying but I was put in the furthest lane that was no wider then my shoulders and there was a fence to my right with people hanging over.

10 years from now - Remington will be where and doing what?

Living the good life with good track stories to tell.

Thanks Remington - Best of Luck - See you this season!!
