Former high school coach dies in biking accident
By Mike Sprague, Staff Writer

Funeral services for Wayne Walker, a former Whittier High School teacher and coach, will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Rose Hills Mortuary in its Sky Rose Chapel, 3888 S. Workman Mill Road, Whittier.
Viewing will be from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m.
Walker, 52, of La Habra Heights, was killed in a bicycle accident at 9:35 a.m. Friday when a car hit him while he was riding south on Colima Road, just south of Casino Drive.
A California Highway Patrol report said a car driven by Michael Reynaga, 25, of Whittier drifted to the right and hit Walker s bike, a Vortex Lightspeed.
Walker flew off the bike onto the hood and windshield of Reynaga s car, eventually hitting the dirt, the report stated.
Walker taught social studies and physical education at Whittier High School from 2000 to 2004 and coached track at the school.
" He loved coaching and his students," said his mother, Berniece Walker.
Walker is survived by his mother and father, Clyde Walker of Oakhurst; brothers Jim of Auberry and Tim of Reno, Nev.; niece Leslie Walker of Auberry and nephew Robert Walker of Auberry.
