Champions Camp/DyeStatCal Fantasy League Contests

You've been asking us to do it for a while. Thanks to the Champions Camp sponsorship and their planning, it is finally a reality. We've got a Fantasy League for California boys' distances and California girls' distances!  If the response is strong, we'll add an overall (all events) contest in the days to come.

So.... you think you have a good read on the best distance talents in the state? On their consistency? Their upside? Their ability to win the big race? Their likelihood to fare well at state? Then this contest is for you!

Read the rules below carefully and enter ALL requested criteria on your enbtry form and you'll be set. We'll post weekly standings so you can "track" how your Fantasy League runners are faring against those of your friends.

Good luck and be sure to check out the Champions Camp website so you can read about a great summertime cross-country camp and see if it fits in with your summertime training in 2007!

CONTEST RULES

The contests are  being sponsored by the "Champions Athletics" summertime cross-country camp held in Mammoth each year. Entries will be limited to the first 100 people that sign up for each contest (one for boys; one for girls) or those that have signed up by 11 p.m. on Thursday, February 22nd, whichever comes first.

All distances runners in the state will be classified as being in one of four "tiers." Top runners in the state will be classified into one of the top three tiers. All remaining distance runners in the state fall into the fourth tier.

Each entry is composed of 7 California distance runners (limit of one contest entry per person). A person's entry may have no more than 2 runners from each of the first three tiers (3 x 2 = 6) and must have at least 1 “sleeper” pick (any other runner in the state, so from tier 4).

Points are awarded for time performances or other achievements (see below). Only an athlete's three best time performances during the course of the season in each event area will be scored. So if a runner breaks under 1:49.00 on four occcasions for the 800, he will only get points credit for three of them (3 x 30 = 90). The contest ends at the end of the CA State meet; only outdoor marks are eligible for scoring; also, all necessary conversions will be made for 1500, mile, 3000, and 2-mile races to 1600 and 3200, respectively.

Official times/results posted on Dyestatcal.com will be the only ones eligible for points. In other words, if results are not submitted to us, no points credit are awarded for those efforts.

Most points at the end of the season wins prizes to be specified this week.

Tie breaker: Composite time of state meet winners in 800, 1600, 3200 to the hundredths of a second.
