Dear Friends,

Dave and Lisa DeLong’s 6-year-old son, Jacob was recently diagnosed with Leukemia. As you may know, Jacob’s older brother Justin “JD” also had leukemia and lost his battle 6 years ago. They are once again facing the battle against pediatric cancer.

The Delong’s are long time residents of Canyon Country. Dave is a math teacher and the Cross Country & Track Coach at Canyon High and has been at the school for over 20 years. Lisa is a registered nurse and has worked as the Family Outreach Coordinator at the Michael Hoefflin Foundation for children’s cancer for the last couple of years. Their daughter Jessica will be a senior at Canyon High and Joelle is entering the 8th grade at Sierra Vista Jr. High. They are a loving and kind family. They are very involved and active in their church and the community.

Along with medical treatments, including chemotherapy, the DeLong family is hoping to pursue therapies and treatments at the Immune Institute in Huntington Beach, CA. Unfortunately, this treatment is not covered by insurance and will run into the thousands of dollars. It is expected to span the course of three years. Lisa will not be able to return to work any time soon. Her time will be consumed by Jacob’s care and being a mom to Joelle and Jessica as well. Dave will be the primary provider bringing in the families sole income.

We want to help Dave and Lisa and their family with as much financial help as we can. Their daily lives will continue – the routine bills are still there in addition to what their family is about to take on.
