Day 6 Diary

Recently graduated Loyola HS standout Mark Matusak checks in for Day 3 from Canada!

Day 6 - Saturday 7/30  (Brief basics today - race tomorrow!)

Today I woke up at 9:15 and headed down to the track to watch part of the 10k women's racewalk.
Maria walked a gusty race and took 3rd in a new American record. After the race I went out for a
20 min run, stretched, and did striders. The workout took longer than I expected so I missed  breakfast, which I was bummed about so I had to eat lunch instead. I ate some pasta, rice, chicken, and a banana. Next, I walked over to the medical staff's suit and had my hamstring worked on. I felt really loose after that. My legs feel good and I am ready to go tomorrow evening. Following the massage I took a 3 hour nap. I woke up and went to get some food with Dan Nunn and Paul. Linzy and Lisa came by a little later so we accompanied them while they ate too. After finishing up the food I just hung out a bit on the porch. The porch has turned into the cool hangout spot. It has been a pretty uneventful and relaxed day which is good before the race. Tonight I plan to watch the 800's, women's 3k steeple and the men's 10k. I'll keep updating as much as I can, but my day tomorrow will be pretty busy with my race and closing ceremonies.
