One of the State's top hurdlers this spring has been Sac Joaquin area star Polly Gnepa, who leads the Section in the Highs at 14.43 off his runner-up effort at Stanford. He was third in the Section Finals in the High Hurdles last May, and just missed a finals spot at last year's State Meet with the eleventh fastest Heat clocking.
He will continue his education locally, at UC Davis, with seemingly some fine potential down the road this spring and in the future
1) Describe how the spring track and field season has gone for you so
far?
This season has gone better than I thought it would I'm already
running faster than I thought especially since it is early in the season
2) How did the winter/spring early weather affect your preparation?
the weather hasn't really affected my preparation too much because if
we can't run outside we do other things to stay in shape
3) What successes did you have last year in the sport?
Last year I made it to the state meet in the 110 M HH and finished
11th overall
4) What other sports are you involved in or have you been involved in
during
the past?
besides track I also am a member of my school's basketball team.
5) What are some of your goals for the spring track and field season?
My goals are, one to go to state again in the 110 M HH and also for our
4x100 team to make it also.
6) What would we find you doing if you were not involved in a meet,
practice, or school work?
I would probably be at home or outside shooting some hoops.
7) What are some of your goals after high school?
I plan to go to college in fact I plan to run track for U.C. Davis next
year.
8) What is the latest movie that you have seen?
The latest movie I saw was coach carter, I really enjoyed this movie
because I also played basketball in high school.
9) What music CD have you purchased, downloaded, or call a favorite
lately?
my favorite CD right now would have to be The Red Light District by
Ludacris, I m always sure to have this CD whenever we are on the road.
10) What advice would you offer a beginning hurdler who is new to our
sport
in their first season?
I would tell them that the object is to get by the hurdle as low and
quick as possible not to leap over them and also to have fun because the 110M hurdles is a fun race.
Thanks
