J-Mee Samuels (North Carolina)
Aims at Arcadia Sprint Double!!

J-Mee Samuels (Mt. Tabor, NC) fastest in the nation!!!

The name of the game in Track is speed, and it is always fun to try to secure the top sprinter in the rest of the nation to challenge the Golden State's best each year at the Arcadia meet. With folks from recent years like Xavier Carter, the Floridan, who blew everybody away two years back with a 10.38-20.85- 46.72 sprint triple, that goal has been achieved this year with the addition of J-Mee Samuels of Mt. Tabor HS in North Carolina. A powerful rocket from the mid-Atlantic area, Samuels is easily the nation's top returnee at both 100m (10.25) and 200m (20.58)! Those efforts mark him as among US prep history's top fifteen 100 and 200 meter dashers with a senior sprint still to go!! J-Mee blazed his top clockings during a great summer of age-group running in 2004, with a fine indoor season this winter. The North Carolinian will be ready to roll in California!! Interestingly, Samuels was in the Arcadia meet two years ago as a soph, where he more than held his own, leading, along with Derrick Jones (LB Poly) for 70 meters in the century event, before Xavier Carter charged by to the 10.38 win. Samuels ended up third as a soph at a cranking 10.48, with a runner-up effort to Carter in the 200 later in the evening. Samuels plans on taking winner's watches home this year from Arcadia!!

Indoors this winter Samuels blazed a 6.72 (60m) and 21.47 (200m) sprint double in Idaho at the Simplot Indoor Games, then took the Nike Indoor 200m event at 21.22, breaking famed LaShawn Merrit's Meet Record with the #5 Prep indoor time ever (Samuels' time recorded on a flat track!). Samuels was nipped by Louisiana's Trindon Holliday in the Nike Indoor 60m event as the duo recorded the top two times in the nation during the "undercover season."

Signed and sealed for the University of Arkansas Razorbacks, a school becoming as noted for developing its sprint talent as well as the other events, come to Arcadia for a chance to see American's next great sprinter J-Mee Samuels!!
