Marcus Frazier (Colton) Hurdler
Opens up at 14.3 for 2005!

By Doug Speck

A pleasant surprise the opening week of meets was Marcus Frazier of Colton HS, who opened up on the school's new all-weather facility with a fine 14.3 High Hurdle effort - a super improvement, with the Southern Section star taking the time to answer a few questions below for us

Best of Luck Marcus rest of the spring!!!

1) What is your sports background in high school. Previous years in track and other sports with any successes you have had?
I have played 3 years of varsity football and 3 years off varsity track and field. I quailfied for 110HH, 300HH, and 4x400 relay last year at leauge finals. In football I was a CBL All League Outside Linebacker & All San Bernardino Sun Defensive Back

2) What sports did you play while you were in your pre-high school years?
Football, hockey, basketball, baseball

3) Understand Colton HS has a new facility - how is it?
It is amazing. It give me the chance to practice under any circumstances and it has help in my training for this year. Its doesnt hurt to run like on dirt

4) Explain the quick 14.3 start - what was your goal for the meet off practices and any time-trials you had had?
My goal for the meet was just to win and get my best possible time. Not to Break a PR. I felt good at the beginning very lose I was upset when I ran though because the other team had no huddlers running.

5) How technically perfect was the race - where do you go from here and how much faster do you think you can run?
The race was very technically good because there was only two of us runing and the other runner was a couple of seconds behind so mine was right on target.

6) Any down the year goals success-wise in the sport that you have here at the start?
My goal all year was to make state. Since the beginning end of last track season because I knew I was capable of it. So yea my goal is to now quailfy and take state. Try to break the standing record.

7) Any humorous stories during training or racing in track and field?
I haven't heard anything as of yet

8) Outside of school what can we find you doing with your spare time?
You can find me either hang out with friends, working, sleeping at home, or at some school event to suport my fellow student athletes

9) Last movie that you saw (cable or otherwise)?
Probally Saw

10) Last music CD you bought or your latest favorite?
Umm John Legend- Get Lifted

11) What advice would you offer to a beginning hurdler who just came out for track?
Don't worry your first year is always your hardest! if you just keep at it even if your not winning you will get the experience that will make you grow as a hurdler. Form is the key just practice your form.

Oh yeah no I'm not an 11th grader ( I wish I still was) but no I'm a senior this is my last year. If you know any interested coaches, I am still available I haven't comitted anywhere just yet
