A little bit of history as Dave Casper snapped photos of the State 800 featuring Bill Taylor's current star, Eric Lee (Sir Francis Drake, San Anselmo)

Photo taken by Bill Taylor's college 880 rival, Dave Casper, of 2004
finish of 800 meters in State finals in Sacramento. Eric Lee of Drake
finished fifth. Taylor defeated Casper in California junior college
state finals in 1952, losing to Ed Wilson of Sacramento City
College by 2 tenths of second; Casper took Taylor the next year by two
tenths of a second in a new state record time. Lee ran 1:52.34 the
week before the California state high school final and it is the
fourth fastest time in California for the year. And in the top
twenty-nationally. Casper and Taylor had the two best 880 times in
the nation in 1953 for junior college half milers.
