Super 2004 Start for Track!!

Great Triple first week out!!
Peninsula HS Star talks a bit!!

1) Describe the end of cross-country season (which we realize may have been frustrating)--
The end of my cross country season was definately frustrating (ed- ankle injury). I had had all these goals set and I did not get the chance to pursue them. However, I realize that everything happens for a reason, and looking back on it now, I can accept that. Of course, I had dreamed of accomplishing so much more, but I knew God had betterplans for me than that.

2) What kind of training did you do during the winter before track?
Actually, we didn't have very many track like workouts. Most of them involved long zone 1 runs and fartleks. I am looking forward to training hard so I can be my very best at the end of the season.

3) What were your goals for the first meet last week?
My goals, honestly, were just to go out and do the very best that I could do and to prove to myself that what had happened in cross country was just because of my injury and that I still have it in me to be good.

4) Were you pleased to have run as fast as you did the first week out?
I was very pleased with my times for the first week out. I missed my 3200 PR by only two seconds, and I PRed in the mile by two seconds

5) Do you have any specific goals for the end of this track season?
Ever since my freshman year, my high school goal has been to break five minutes in the mile. Since I have never had the oppurtunity before, I want to be able to travel to Sacramento and compete in the state finals meet. I was also want to be able to look back over my track season when it is over and be able to say that it was the best season ever, so far.

6) What advice could you give for a beginning runner who just started out in our sport?
Never, Never, NEVER give up. Do not let anyone ever tell you cannot do something, because you can. Always give it your all, and if you do, the rewards will be amazing. And most importantly, HAVE FUN!!!

thanks for your interest

Olga
