Boys
A flock of Central Section flyers will headline this competition, with Rodney Oliver (Clovis East) back at 10.82-21.89 from the area, but he will be severly pressed during his relay efforts here by Daniel Loeffler (Clovis West, Fresno) 11.04, with the twosome of Sunnyside’s Joe Turner (10.8-22.08-49.9) and super soph Mike Mills (11.05 and 22.53) forming the basis for some fine relay squads. Lemoore’s Ryan Newton (15.15 110mHH) is back and hopes for some help from team mates in the Shuttle Hurdles. Fine jumpers Josh Peterson (Bullard, Fresno) 22-01.5 last year in the LJ as a soph, with Vance Washington (Tulare Western) 21-04, and David Ausberry (21-01 as a frosh last year in the same event) should hep their Relay squads out!

In the Field on the Boys’ side, in the Pole Vault, a fine group will compete, with Jesse Aguilar (Clovis East) 14-00, Jim Batista (Lemoore) 13-06, soph Andrew Pancotti (13-06), Bill Grigg (Buchanan) 13-00, and Chris Yang (Bullard) 12-06 setting up a super early season field there. The weights have the same quality, with super Jason Rooters (Edison, Fresno) 61-09.5 (SP) and 186-06 (DT) on top!! The Clovis West underclass duo of junior Bobby Scott (54-11 and 153-10 as a soph last year) and super soph Tyler Dragon (52-06 last year as a frosh!) hope to hold off local rival, junior Trent Barnes (Clovis) 50-11.75 in the Shot Put after that, with Steven Nunez (Buchanan) also over 50-00 last year at 50-00.75. Derius Turner (Tulare Western) 50-05.5 last year as a soph adds to the mix, with DJ Haynes (Edison) a fine 158-01 last year as a junior in the Discus!

Girls
Fine junior Lisa Sirbiladze (Clovis West, Fresno) was 12.37 and 25.39 in the sprints last year and returns as one of the Section’s best, with Alondra Young (Bullard, Fr) 12.46 and 26.01 close behind! Look for that duo to anchor some relay action this weekend! Randalyn Maya (Redwood, Visalia) is another of the Central Section’s best in the sprints, with 26.09 (200) and 57.6 (400) bests. Fine soph Caitlyn Sagmaguen (Clovis) 57.68 for 400m is the Central Section’s best in the one lap event! Brianna Burke (Clovis West) is another who had a fine frosh year in 2003, with a 59.7 400 best, with fellow 10th grader Kaitlin Kaufmann (Clovis East) 60.18 in the one lap event. Fine hurdler Sirena Williams (Edison, Fresno) 15.44 (100mH) and 46.9 (300mH), Rosie Anderson (Clovis East) 15.9, Cassandra Sanders (Redwood, Visalia) 16.09, and Stacy Jones (Edison, Fr) 16.0 were fine 100 hurdlers who will undoubtedly help their sprint relay squads and show up strongly in the shuttle hurdles. Kristi Boogaard (Clovis) was 47.44 300mLH as a frosh, with Deanna Sweet (Buchanan) 47.81 in the long hurdles last spring.
The anchor of the 1600 medley could be a great one if Burks (2:20.69 800 2003), Kaufmann (2:20.7) and Ruby Palmore (Edison, Fresno) 2:22.5 2003 show up in the two lap leg! Tara Hawkins (Clovis) was 2:23.91 last year for the 800, with a fine 5:15.96 1600 best. Bullard’s Roxanne Sellick (5:17.67 and 11:20.93 in the distances) could also show up on the end of that 1600 medley!
Brianna Burks (above Clovis West 400-800 last spring) also was one of the State’s top frosh High Jumpers last year with a 5-06 best!
Rosie Anderson (Clovis East) had a 10-00 best in the Pole Vault last year, with Andrea Greenman (Cloivs) also at 10-00 as just a ninth grader in 2003. Maddy Hintergardt (Clovis) was over 9-00 last spring, with Casey Carrillo (Sunnyside, Fr) 8-06.
Hillaree Bennett (Redwood, Visalia) shows up as one of the area leaders in the Shot Put at 40-05 from 2003, with Stephanie Rusky (Sunnyside) close behind at 40-04. Nina Ovalle (Clovis) was 117-03 last year in the Discus, with Amber Horoch (Clovis East) 114-00 in the platter event!
