AAF Level 1 Clinic - Mt. SAC - Saturday January 10th -
Spirit of the 1984 Olympics lives on in great series of local clinics The very best track and field clinic series geared directly toward the high school coach will begin this Saturday, January 10, with the first AAF Level 1 Clinic to be held at Mt. SAC College beginning with registration at 7:30 AM. Not only is this great clinic series, which attracted more than 800 coaches last year, free to all coaches and interested adults who want to attend but every coach who attends the entire day at each clinic will receive a free copy of the AAF 450 page coaching manual along with a certificate of completion. All event areas--sprints, hurdles, distances, throws, jumps, and vault—will have four hour specific beginning and intermediate sessions and there will be other sessions including hands-on prevention and taping track related injuries, advanced stretching, Olympic lifting techniques, recruiting potential athletes, building an age-group program and many other important sessions. A great line-up of imminently successful coaches are set to present this weekend. Sprints: Hurdles: Distances: High Jump: Throws: Pole Vault: Long Jump/Triple Jump Hands-on Taping and Injury Prevention: Once again, this clinic is absolutely free to all coaches and interested adults. You can register on the day of the clinic; however, all coaches who do pre-register will receive a free gift at the clinic from Venue Sports and SprnigCo Athletics. There will be two more free clinics coming in the next month. Brooks Johnson, former Olympic coach and currently the director of the USA Track & Field High Performance Program and USOC Training Center, will deliver the keynote presentation at the Advanced Level Clinic at Mt. SAC on January 24 discussing the “Critical Zone” concept in all events. There will also be presentations at the advanced clinic covering all specific aspects of training for all track and field events. Another Level 1 clinic will be held on February 7 at Westview High School in San Diego. Coaches can get additional information regarding clinic speakers and
