Slovenia's Brigita Langerholc, who starred at USC, ran 2:01.58 in the women's 800m semifinals, but came up short of advancing to the final. In photo at right, Deena Drossin (former Agoura HS star) continued her claim as America's top distance runner with a 12th-place finish in the women's 10,000m in a seasonal best 31:17.86.

Super woman Gail Devers (Sweetwater HS, San Diego area) purred to an easy heat victory in 12.76 in the opening round of the women's 100m high hurdles on Monday. Americans Jenny Adams and Miesha McKelvy also advance into the semifinals. Can the Americans pull off a clean sweep of the medal positions???

Although Kirby Lee was positioned straight ahead at the finish line, it appeared he also had one of his remote cameras set up to nab this shot of Kelli White (James Logan HS, NorCal alum) as she crossed the finish!
White won the 100-meter dash gold medal in 10.85, the world's fastest time in 2003! In photo at right, Southlander Mary Sauer (San Dimas HS, Azusa Pacific University) begins the pole bend on her way up in the vault. Sauer, who only long jumped and high jumped in high school, took 10th at the World Championships!
