Allyson Felix at the Mid-Summer Games - Prep Sprint Star Continues preparation for World Championship Meet in Paris - Doug Speck

We caught up with prep sprint star Allyson Felix as she observed the Mid-Summer Games via cell phone while Dave Casper spent some time talking with her and had time to ask her a couple of questions. Couple of exciting competitions coming up for the recently graduated star, with good news on the cramping condition which affected her running at the Stanford Senior Championship affair:

  • Speck: "What are your competition plans between now and the World Championship competition coming up in Paris?"
  • Allyson - "I will be running in, and am looking forward to the Pan American Championships in early August in Santa Domingo in the Dominican Republic."
  • Speck: "How is the slight injury from the Stanford Senior Nationals coming along?"
  • Allyson - "It is getting much better and feeling really good right now."
  • Speck: "Would you consider it a cramp or a slight pull?"
  • Allyson: "It was only a cramp."
  • Speck: "Was it in the same spot as the hamstring injury last year at the Junior Nationals?"
  • Allyson: "Actually it is in the other leg this time."

We certainly would like to wish our local star the best of luck as she prepares for some big meets in August, culminating in the World Championships in Paris, with her quick development from a fine local, small schools dasher to a national record holder quite amazing to behold!
