PLEASE NOTE: Formerly the Santa Monica Distance Classic, since 2000 this
has been a full track meet with all 36 men’s & women’s
USATF championship events. Last year’s meet produced 27 national
qualifiers. Meet information is also posted at www.trackwest.org.
SITE:
Bill Henry Track, Occidental College--one of the fastest in Southern
California. Eight 48-inch lanes with the widest radius curves allowed
and newly resurfaced in 2001. Due to popular demand, we will once again
accompany the entire meet to MUSIC. Enclosed are freeway directions and
a campus map.
AWARDS: USATF Championship medals to the first 3 place-winners in each
event.
TIMING: Fully automatic timing by Finish Lynx.
ENTRY FEE:
$20.00 per athlete. (Unlimited events) Make checks payable to “TRACK
WEST”.
Entry fee includes a commemorative Meet T-Shirt. Late entries are not
guaranteed a meet T-shirt.
ENTRY PROCEDURE & DEADLINE: All entries must be faxed to Don Chadez
at Flash Results West (714-970-1416) by 5:00pm on Tuesday, June 3. No
entries will be taken over the phone. Pre-meet entries will be posted
at www.flashresults.com/flashwest on Thursday, June 5.
LATE ENTRIES
& NO-SHOWS:
The late entry fee after June 3 is $25.00. Entries on June 8 close 60-minutes
before each event. Athletes who have not checked-in within 60-minutes
of their event will be scratched.
FINAL CHECK-IN:
When their event is called, running event entries must report to the CLERK
at the starting line for their event to pick-up their hip number and heat
assignment. Field event entries will report to the Head Judge for their
event.
CERTIFICATION OF IMPLEMENTS:
Throwing implements will be certified at a table located near the start/finish
line.
PARKING: Campus parking is FREE.
ADMISSION FEE: Spectator admission is $5.00.
RESULTS: Copies of results will be posted event by event.
The 2003-2006 Southern California USATF Championships celebrate the extraordinary
coaching career of Jim Bush. Jim’s success as a Southern California
high school, junior college, and university coach is without peer. Fullerton
High School, Kern County, CA, Bakersfield College, Occidental College,
UCLA, the U.S. Track Coaches Association, and USA Track & Field have
all inducted Jim into their Hall-of-Fame. Jim has coached 118 NCAA medallists
and 30 Olympians. He has been a coach for three USA teams in international
competition. He is past president of the USTCA and an executive board
member of the NCAA Track Coaches Association and USA Track & Field.
Jim is now in his 52nd year of coaching America’s Olympic hopefuls.
No one is more deserving of having a track meet baring his name and for
that meet to be a worthy legacy.
