Carter raced 46.72 in the 400 with the thought in mind that the 100 crew waited for him a bit later in the 200 - his 400 had him lead through 250 meters, throw in a spurt when he felt pressure from Desean Cunningham on his inside, then another spurt about 1/4 of the way down the homestretch. He could have run sub-46 easily it seemed to the announcer whose post was high above the track Chris Solinsky split 4:27 point and 4:15 point on the way to leading Prep History's fastest ever mass 3200 with 11 under 9:00.0 with his 8:43.24 win--it was a classic, run in a slow misty drizzle!!!
