James Davis (former Wood HS of Vacaville Star/Univ Colorad) named Athlete of the Week by USATF!!

INDIANAPOLIS - James Davis has been named USA Track & Field's
Athlete of the Week following his U.S.-leading performance in the men's
400 meters Sunday in Lievin, France.

Davis ran 45.99 seconds in his first career appearance at a
European indoor meet to win with a season's-best performance. With his
performance, Davis became the first American since 2001 to break 46
seconds indoors for the 400 meters.

Other U.S. leading performances from last week include Ari
Lambie's new national prep record of 2:45.46 for the 1,000 meters, run
Saturday in Boston at the Massachusetts state championships. The
Broomfield High School senior set a new national record by nearly two
seconds, beating Margaret Scutro's (N.J.) time of 2:47.44 from 1985.
Lambie posted the third all-time fastest mark of 2:48.52 in the 1,000
meters a week ago. Also in prep action, Far Rockaway (N.Y.) High
School sophomore Jeavon Benjamin had a U.S.-leading time of 1:30.67 in
the 600 meters Saturday at the New York Armory.

In collegiate competition, Jeremy Scott, a senior at Division
III Allegheny College, pole vaulted 5.68m/18 feet 7.5 inches Saturday at
DePauw University to post the best mark by a collegian this year and
rank him among the top five U.S. performers this season.

Now in its third year, USATF's Athlete of the Week program is
designed to recognize outstanding performers at all levels of the sport.
USATF names a new honoree each week and features the athlete on the
USATF Web site. Selections are based on top performances and results
from the previous week.
