Boys weight throw results

(Thanks to Simplot Games meet management.)

EVENT SUMMARY: National leader Nick Owens of Washington let loose some big efforts in warmups, but found himself out of groove once the competition started. Although his mark was nearly eight feet short in the national record, Owens (making quite a "unique" fashion statement with his tie-dyed t-shirt and Freddie Krueger-like socks), he remained upbeat about his short-term future. "Things felt good in warmups... I'm getting close.... The record's coming." .... Utah's Leif Arrhenius, also considered among the nation's elite discus throwers, established a lifetime best in competition, enjoying two better marks in practice.
