Treani Swain (Oakwood Academy, North Hollywood) - "There are 63 students in my class at Oakwood Academy. It is a very academic school. Some of the schools that I am considering after I graduate this year are Columbia, Stanford, USC, and Penn State. I hope to major in Kinesiology. I hope to run 2:06 in the 800 and win State this June. I hope to run 52.9-53.3 for the 400 during the season.

"I started running in the third grade, following in the foot steps of my father, James Sanford, who was a great high school and college sprinter. I gave up basketball this year to concentrate on track. It was taking a while to make the adjustment from the basketball court to the track and runway, so I decided to work on track my senior year. I am goint to attend USC next year. I have a 3.6 GPA, and I would like to jump 21-0 (LJ) and a National Record in the Triple Jump." (ed note) - The record is 44-00.25 by Ychlindria Spears of Texas from 2001). Sanford jumped 43-04.5 in the World Youth Championships(under 18) summer before last, but was not able to top that mark last prep season.

From Pullman Washington (where she threw over 162 feet with the Discus) - Kate Hutchinson is now at San Clemente HS where she is working with relative Hugo DeGroot (who prepared National SP record holder Natalie Kaaiawahia (Fullerton HS). She is the nation's #6 returnee, and along with Billie Jo Grant (Arroyo Grande), Melissa Faubus (Centennial, Bakersfield), and others, she will give the State a super group in the platter event this spring!!

Super USC facility where the Pac 10 will be held this year - mark Sunday May 18th on your calendar (will not interfere with any HS meets as a Sunday affair) the Pac 10 Championship Finals at USC!!! - Will be a super event with the much improved seating faciltiy at USC - Katherine B. Loker Stadium, it will be a great event!!!
