Women's World Lists (Janaury 2003 issue)

What California female prepster is listed in the top thirty in her event worldwide for 2003? Answer later - but guess now!!


Sprints - Marion Jones (former Thousand Oaks/Rio Mesa HS) star had the world's #2 clocking behind Ukranian Zhanna Pintusevich-Block at 10.83, with former Golden Staters very prominent on the lists. Stanford's Chryste Gaines had the world's #5 clocking for the year at 10.94, with Angela Williams (Chino HS/USC) #11 at 11.06. Torri Edwards (Pomona HS/USC) was #16 on the World yearly lists at 11.16. Kelli White (Logan HS) was =#21 world-wide at 11.16, with Inger Miller (Muir HS/USC) #29 atg 11.22. Jones led the 200 at 22.11 for the yar, with White #7 at 22.50. Allyson Felix (all right we spoiled our question) was =#26 in the entire world at 22.83!!. Briana Glenn (Univ Arizona/La Mirada HS) was #29 worldwide in the 200 at 22.91. Kinshasa Davis (Wilson, LB/USC) was #37 in the world at 22.98. Over 400m Marion Joens was #6 worldwide with her 50.46 clocking. Monique Henderson (Morse HS/UCLA) was =#20 worldwide at 51.10, with Lashinda Demus (Wilson, LB/University of South Carolina) #24 at 51.34.

Middle Distances - Nicole Teter (West Valley HS/Arkansas) was #5 in the world over 800m at 1:57.97. Regina Jacobs (Argyll Academy (North Hollywood)/Stanford) was #7 worldwide timewise over 1500m at 4:01.02, with Marla Runyan (Camarillo/SD State) #19 at 4:02.95. Nicole Teter was #26 at 1500m at 4:04.19.

Long Distances - Over 5000m Marla Runyan was #28 at 15:07.19, with Regina Jacobs #31 at 15:12.1 indoors. At 10,000 Meters Deena Drossin (Agoura/Arkansas) was #5 at 30:50.32.

Hurdles - Gail Devers (Sweetwater HS/UCLA) was #1 at 12.40, with Miesha McKelvey (Gahr/San Diego St) =#4 at 12.60. At the 400m distance Lashinda Demus (Wilson, LB/Univ South Carolina) was #19 at 54.70.

Pole Vault - Stacy Dragila (Placer HS/Boise St) was #3 in the world at 15-05.75, with Mary Sauer (San Dimas HS/Azusa Pacific) =#7 at 15-03. Tracy O'Hara (Rancho Bernardo/UCLA) was =#34 at 14-03.5.

Long Jump - Grace Upshaw (Acalanes HS/Cal) was =#37 in the LJ at 21-08.

Discus - Suzy Powell (Downey HS (Modesto)/UCLA) was #1 worldwide in distance at 227-10 for an American Record!!

Hammer - Leslie Coons (Serra HS (San Diego)/USC) was #36 worlwide last year at 217-3.
