DyeStatCal All-State Track & Field Team 2003 Outdoors - Boys High Jump

Returning as the State Champ off his 6-11 win at Cerritos last June, 7-footer Cole Herron (Sanger) returns as the top high jumper in the state this spring!! (John Dye photo)

--The Following teams are selected on a combination of Top Marks, Honors Won, and Perceived potential heading into the 2003 Outdoor Track & Field season statewide. They are meant to be a way of honoring the top athletes around our great state with an attempt to give folks a sense of where general groupings of top athletes would place them. It is felt that this would be a way to better publicize our sport with recognition prior to the start of the season and during the early season as athletes with "All-State" groupings, First, Second, or Third Team (nine per group). Enjoy - Any corrections on grades, transfers, etc. appreciated. - e-mail us

Cole Herron (7-0 best) took the State High Jump in Fresno last year by two full inches at 6-11, so he returns with great big meet experience and success when it counted! Herron had his best of 7-0 while winning his section meet, with T.J. Fakahinde also a 7-footer (7-00.25) hoping for consistency at the end of this spring's season. Justin Johnson was a 6-08 jumper in addition to his hurdling exploits last year, with one of the state's best Long Jumpers, Rudy Burgess, also a 6-08 best here. Andre Blackmon (6-08), Ryan Zack (6-07), and junior Jake Maus (6-06) were state meet competitors last June. Jeff Goddard (6-06), Michael Bumbrecht (Santa Monica) (6-06), and Cole Marton (6-06) showed fine potential during 2002.
