August 14-19 the Redondo Union High School Cross
Country team traveled to Big Bear for a week
of High Altitude training. We shared the Santa Monica Y.M.C.A. Big Bear Camp
with West Torrance
as part of the South Bay High Altitude Running Camp. The team got in a great
week of training and
participating in fun team building games. It was a brutal week of two a day
runs and full days down at the lake.
If the kids weren't having kayak races or hanging out in the lake they were
anticipating their three square meals
a day. This was a great chance to bond as a team and refine our goals for the
season. For a day away from the
camp our runners attended the opening of 'Snakes on a Plane.' Most of the kids
feel strongly that this movie should
be a frontrunner come Academy time. All in all this was a great week of training
and bonding as a focused TEAM.
