Krystal Carter won the 100m and set a new meet record (previous was 11.97,
her own from '05). (*Pic attached)

Sophomore Christina Barrientos won the 1500m. it was a good battle.
Barrientos put a lead on the pack but Lawman and Hoyt hunted her down on
the final stretch. (PIC )

The 3 Bellarmine guys in the 110's... that was fun to watch. Out in front
from the start. (*Pic )

Taylor Johnson pressed the pace from the start of the 800, but the ND San
Jose girl (Chaidez) kept with her for about 600m of it tho. Chaidez had
the inside too, and kept Taylor on the outside thru 500m. It was fun to
watch. (*Pics)

The SMRs (2-2-4-8) were my favorite of the day... Girls: Los Gatos had a
commanding lead (40m) going into the 800m leg. Johnson (SLV) took the
baton in 2nd and ate up the track and caught Goodwin (LG) by the 500m
mark. I didnt get a split... but i can find out... it had to be a sub
2:20 tho.
Boys: Los Gatos again had a lead going into the 800m leg, thanks to Don
Gaspar ('05 CCS 400m Champ). But Monterey's 800m guy soon reeled them in
during the first lap... then it was both teams battling off of pure guts
because it was obvious that both men had hit the wall... they came down
the homestretch, neck and neck... each one trying to find one more surge
to pull ahead... but neither quit and it came down to one last leaning
push by Monterey to edge out LG. (I wish i had pictures)

Women's 3k... a solid pack for the first 4-5 laps.. then Bergman found an
opening and thru in a surge that put a good 30m on the competition within
a lap.

men's 5k... Jonathan Gragert pressed the pace from the start... only Santa
Clara's Ejigu tried to hang, but he started to struggle with about a mile
to go... Watsonville's Alvarez (who won the 1500 earlier) moved up well in
the final laps to get 2nd.

Amber Kaufman did the TJ, LJ, and HJ (in that order). took 2nd in the LJ.
(*Pic) The tired Kaufman competed in the HJ just enough to win.
