Here's a brief summary of the camp:

Mark Conover (1988 USA marathon olympic trials champion) Jim Spivey (1984, 1992, 1996 olympian at 1500m) and Gabe Jennings (2000 USA 1500m olympic trials champion) each discussed their olympic experiences, as well as their philosophies on training, racing, and sport psychology. New to the camp, Spivey and Jennings entertained audiences with anecdotes while conveying their tremendous passion for the sport. Drawing upon his experience coaching the women's program at Vanderbilt, Spivey provided a broad spectrum of perspectives on running. A major point in his presentation centered on positive imagery.

Jennings announced his future goals, including a 3:33 1500m! He also provided detailed accounts of his development as an athlete, beginning with growing up in rural Northern California where his first training
runs were two mile treks back and forth from school, to the intensity of chasing national titles at Stanford and ultimately winning the 2000 Olympic Trials race.

In addition to the impressive line-up of speakers and presenters, the HSU camp hosted many of California's top prep athletes, including CIF 3200m runner-up Amanda Moreno of Escalon and the CIF D5 cross country champion duo from Mt. Shasta Austin and Katie Friztke. Local stars John Figueiredo and Jasmine White of Arcata were also in attendance, as were most members of the College Park state champion squad.
