I am the new head track and cross country coach at
amador valley high school in pleasanton, and just to
make things more interesting for myself in my 1st year
of tenure, I am putting on the 1st annual dan gabor
memorial meet on march 22nd at AVHS. as you know, Dan
Gabor was the state 800 champ from Amador who died
tragically in the TWA flight 800 crash.

Incidentally, this meet will honor him by having the
only individual event being the 800 meters. Iam
looking to bring the best of the best to this race,
and early responses sound good. we will also have
relays:

4x200
4x400
4x800
sprint med.
distance med.
shuttle hurdles
jump relays (lj, hj, pv)
throws relays (disc, shot)

I am very excited about this meet, as it will be run
on our 8-lane all-weather facility, and it looks to
feature some of the area's best.

Piedmont, Alhambra, Alameda, Oakland, and Merrill West
have shown early interest, and there looks to be more
ahead.

I will send you a more detailed account of the meet
soon, but if you could at least put us on the outdoor
schedule, I would appreciate it.
