Who?

Walt Lange-Jesuit High School--"The Jesuit Distance Program"
Coach at Jesuit since 1970, 8 state cross country championships, athletes have won 7 state gold medals in 1600 and 3200, 32 Jesuit runners have competed at the state meet in the 1600 or 3200.

Pat Tyson-Mead High School
Pat Tyson is a legend not only in the state of Washington but also all around the country. His Mead teams have won an incredible 13 State Championships and his individuals have had great success in the Footlocker series over the years.

Tim O’Rourke-Arroyo High School—“Interval Progression for Cross Country”
Former coach at Arroyo High School--National Champions in 1987, State Champions in 1986 & 1987, ranked in the top ten in the state 11 times, and an overall dual meet record of 323 and 9. Tim is now the meet director for the Mt. Sac track and cross country invitationals and Footlocker Western Regional.

Ken Reeves-Nordhoff/Ventura High School
Since the start of the state cross country meet, at least one Reeves’ coached team has placed in the top 5 in the state except for 1988 and 2001. Since 1990, at least 1 Reeves coached team has been on the podium at the state meet except for 2001. As a head coach, he has the opportunity to coach 11 state team championship teams and five individual state champions. In four years as an assistant at Ventura High School, he has helped coach two team championship teams along with a 2nd and 3rd place team. Coach Reeves has coached 5 Footlocker National Finalists. He was twice named National Cross Country Coach of the Year. In 2002, he was inducted into the Ventura County Sports Hall of Fame.

Gary Towne-Chico State University—“Taking the 9:30 guys to Nationals”
10th year as head coach. Have coached the Chico Men’s XC team to 7 straight top 10 NCAA finishes (4 straight Top-5), Women have finished in top 6 nationally 4 years straight. Men have won West Region titles 4 years running...Women 3 years running. Both squads took 2nd at Stanford Invite last fall beating lot’s of DI schools. Despite having never landed a sub 5 min gal, the lady ‘Cats defeated two DI schools that went on to win their conferences in ‘05 in XC. With very little scholarship dollars to work with, the Wildcats of Chico have managed to become one of the very best programs in the state regardless of division
