July 17-22

2005 Castro Valley
Cross-Country Invitational

Date:
Saturday, October 8, 2005

Location:
Canyon Middle School,
Castro Valley

Castro Valley Invitational Features:
• challenging hilly course with good spectator visibility
• Junior High/ Elementary race -- see the stars of tomorrow! (combined
with coaches’ race)
• medals galore
• free T-shirts to all coaches who complete the coaches’ race
• run JV teams even with SAT depleted varsity
• A race for all age and ability groups

THE COURSE:
The Canyon course is a challenging 3.0 and 2.1 mile run, with hills,
trails, and grass. The heart of the course is a hilly mile loop of trails
and trees -- the Canyon -- that makes up the last 1.1 mile of the race.

JV ENTRIES:
Coaches, I know that cross country tends to take a pretty good hit on SAT
weekends (like this weekend is sometimes.) So, we are offering the
following solution: You may run an incomplete Varsity and a complete JV
team if any of your legitimate Varsity are test-taking. Just clear it
with me prior to race time. Please be aware that this does not mean
running your regular varsity on JV’s.

AWARDS:
Awards are listed on the schedule. Individual medals are handed out in
the chute: team plaques at the awards presentation on the track
immediately after the boys’ varsity race.

COACHES’ RACE
All finishers in the coaches’ race receive medals, and all finishers who
are paid coaches (honor system here) can redeem their finish card for a
free T-shirt.

Team plaques to the top boys and top girls team in each race. Medals to
the top 25 boys and top 25 girls
