CALIFORNIA COLLEGES

Maranatha HS alum Laura Meyers, pictured above winning the State Division IV
cross-country title at Woodward park in 2002, has graduated from Columbia University
in New York. However, she still has eligibility remaining and she'll be returning to the
Golden State to attend medical school at the University of Southern California!
She'll specialize in the steeplechase during track season as she boasts among the top
steeple marks in the nation for those with remaining NCAA eligibility for 2008!

Elias Gedyon, who was among the nation's top age-group distance talents in recent
summers, will attend Loyola HS of the Southern Section starting with his frosh year
in 2007-08. Cubs head XC coach Lalo Diaz reports that the quiet Gedyon has
assimilated well to the program in recent days and could be a big help to the team.
"He recently split 49.5 so he has wheels," said Diaz. Gedyon has also run 1:55 and
change during a recent split in the 4x800 with his Quiet Fire club team.
