Babcock and Kosinski represent Cali in Boston!

Saturday, January 27, 2007 @ Reggie Lewis Center, Boston, MA
National-class prep milers Christine Babcock of Woodbridge HS (SS) and Alex Kosinski of Oak Ridge
HS (SJS) will compete unattached as milers on a quick indoor track in Boston against many of the East
Coast's finest in a big duel! Babcock was the California state outdoor 1600m champion last year while
Kosinski ran one of the fastest times in the nation. New Jersey's Danielle Tauro, fresh off an impressive
win at last weekend's New Balance Games, is the favorite. While the girls' field is strong up top, the boys'
field lacks most of the top returning 1600m/milers in the country from last year's outdoor season. None of
the top California boys were invited despite a strong collection being available. This is the meet where
Californians Michael Coe and AJ Acosta shined in 2006. Good luck to Christine and Alex!

Thursday's "Hall of Fame" Banquet!

The super popular "Pole Vault Summit" competition doesn't begin until Friday night (pros),
but the festivities began on Thursday as ex-Kingsburg HS star Melissa Price (at left in left
photo, alongside Fresno State coach and vault guru Bob Fraley) was inducted into the Vault
Summit's Hall of Fame! Melissa was the true pioneer in the girls' vault, being the first
13-footer at the high school level when she turned the feat way back in 1995, when the
event was in its infancy for American female teens. At right, Mt. SAC vault coach Brian
Yokoyama and Fresno State's Fraley pose with Pole Vault Summit keynote speaker
Steve Miller, a former track coach and one-time Nike high-ranking executive who has been
among the sport's most powerful and influential figures over the years. High school vault
competition is all day on Saturday and we'll bring you the highlights, results and interviews!

According to LB Wilson coach Terry Kennedy, sprinter Shelise Williams (12.12/ 24.14/ 55.24)
has verbally committed to the University of Arkansas! Coach Kennedy also tells us that
Ebony Collins will likely wait until April to make her collegiate destination decision!
