Meet Summary

COACHES ALLIANCE CLINIC/DINNER/MEETING
Thursday, January 11, 2007 in Tustin
All are invited!

We are making a special invitation to you to join us for dinner (paid by the Coaches Alliance) at Roma D’Italia in Tustin on Thursday January 11, 2007 at 7:00pm. As a valued colleague we want to share this great meal with you followed by an outstanding program.

We have invited Liam Clemons of state champion Trabuco Hills to speak about his season. George Varvas will give an update on the Great Park and Rich Gonzalez will review this year’s NTN and similar issues. Three proposals also will be discussed. They include concerns about the association rule which will be discussed by Rick Hagin of El Toro; Rex Hall of Dana Hills will discuss getting a
third plaque awarded at CIF and Ken Sayles of Capo Valley will propose a revision in the selection of At Large from League to Prelims.

Concerns have been expressed that the low turnout at association meetings may have an adverse effect on the “clout” that we can claim
with CIF. Please join us at this meeting so we can make clear our commitment as an organization to the continued betterment of our sport.

The first 30 coaches who RSVP to [email protected] (and show-up) will be guaranteed a wonderful and FREE Italian
dinner at this terrific restaurant. We look forward to seeing you on the 11th, happy holidays

Rich Medellin, Esperanza High - Ken Sayles, Capistrano Valley High - Rex Hall, Dana Hills High

Restaurant Address-Roma D’ Italia, 611 El Camino Real, Tustin, CA 92780, (714) 544-0273

Special Report

Simon Gutierrez (New Mexico)

I always remembered him as a very tough prep runner, with a third at the
1983 Kinney (now Foot Locker) Championships out of New Mexico.
and after a career at the University of Arizona, his name has shown
up in top quality road and mountain race results up to the current time
- amazing career that has stretched nearly 25 years now at a top level
- Simon Gutierrez (right in above picture) answers some questions about his
running - if you love running this guy is worth listening to, as he's still doing it
at a top quality level into his 40's!!
Read about someone who has been at a top level in the 80's-90's and into the new millenium!
