Motorcycle accident claims life of Esperanza HS alum Ryan Bousquet

We regrettably learned this afternoon that Esperanza HS Class of 2000 alum Ryan Bousquet was involved in an early morning motorcycle accident on the streets of Orange County today which claimed the life of the outgoing 25-year-old. According to his high school coach at Esperanza, Rich Medellin, Ryan recently purchased his first motorcycle and the accident apparently occurred when
Ryan was unable to negotiate a tight turn.
Bousquet, who was born in Fullerton, placed second in the mile at the 2000 outdoor nationals before attending Arizona State and
was part of an exceptional group of California male distance runners that year which also included Ryan Hall, Fernando Cabada and
Josh Spiker.
Please keep Ryan's family and Coach Medellin in your thoughts and prayers during this very tough time.

A word of thanks for your prayers from Cerritos HS cross-country...
It has been a difficult road for the Cerritos Cross Country team, however, it has been wonderful to receive so much support from the XC community. I wanted to take the time to, on behalf of myself, my team, and our friends and family to thank you for taking the time out to send e-mails, letters, donations and also for those who came by and gave your support. It has meant so much to our team and has helped our team find some closure in this matter. It is times like these that we truly realize how close knit the running community is and how much the support helps out during this healing process.
We also received the good news that our athlete who was still in the hospital will be released and should be returning home either today or tomorrow.
Thanks again for all of the support. It has helped me realize again how lucky we are to be apart of such a wonderful sport and community.

Sincerely,
Jason Watanabe
