New Jersey's Danielle Tauro and New York's Dan McManamon
were the thoroughbreds powering around the Madison Square Garden
track at Friday night's Millrose Games affair. Tauro's time of 4:51.89
is the third-fastest HSer in meet history and McManamon's 4:17.18
is also a superb time on the 11-laps-to-the-mile oval in New York.

Parlauf Relays

The annual "Swedish relay" is a popular competition that Southland sprinters have
used in recent years to gauge their fitness as the outdoor season approaches. With
five runners alternating 200-meter segments, and each running eight times (5x8x200m),
the near 5-mile challenge was mastered in new record time on 19:04.8 by West Torrance
HS runners, taking down the tough 1999 record of 19:05.3 by a talent-laden Gahr HS
group that went on to win a CIF-SS team title that Spring! Congratulations to new record-
holders Louis Castro, James Hyun, Steven DeCastro, Avo Nezarian, and Scott Huffman!
