The Burroughs High cross country teams had a very successful week of
mountain training at the Alta Sierra Running Camp July 24 - 29. Many camp
run times were broken. The girl's were especially awesome. -- Coach Anthony Barnes

Ventura HS sprint specialist Brandon Smith, who originally was a baseballer in high school,
made very quick strides in track and field in two years to become among the most improved
and downright best dashers in the state (legal bests of 10.68 and 21.35). Previously expressing
plans to attend the University of New Hampshire for football, he
will instead attend UCLA for
track and field, joining sprint coach Tony Veney's cadre of speedsters.
