Nike Team Nationals CA Region Update



Edison gets a 5:07 girls 1600m from Maryland

Edison High School in Huntington Beach (Southern Section), which placed fourth
at last year's State Championships in Division II for girls, received some good news
recently when it learned that Meghan Foley has transferred in from Maryland.
Foley, who will be a sophomore, ran 5:07.49 for 1600m at Eastern Tech HS last year.

From L-to-R, Turquoise Thompson (LB Poly/Quiet Fire TC) ran
54.01 in Intermediate Girls 400m qualifying while Sa'de Williams
(Rancho Cucamonga/SoCal Running Cougars) and Ebony Collins
(LB Wilson/Quiet Fire TC) ran 55.27 and 54.89, respectively, in
qualifying action in the Young Women's 400m. The finals for both
divisions are set for Sunday's final day of action in the six-day meet!

Cory Primm, the California state champion at 800m
this past June, has been working on speed. Check

on how he's faring these days!


Although any verbal commitments made this early for 2007 are non-binding,
UCLA continued to get a huge head start on the competition by getting
a THIRD major commitment, this one coming from California state 800m
champion Cory Primm of Westlake HS. Cory cited middle-distance coach
Eric Peterson and the UCLA atmosphere in general as reasons for his decision.
Previously, Saugus HS distance runner Shannon Murakami and JW North
sprinter Nevin Gutteriez made verbal extra-early commitments to UCLA.

Former CA state champ returns,
transfers into Azusa Pacific!


Royal High alum Bryan Rodie, who initially matriculated to
Boise State (where he placed third in the 800m at the
Western Athletic Conference Championships), has opted
to return to the Golden State, where he will run at NAIA
powerhouse Azusa Pacific University! Bryan won the
California state 800m title in 2004 in 1:52.04!
