    points with Oak Park 47 and 92:54 in second (teams took top seven places in good race!!)

  • Boys Div III - Michael Coe (Cabrillo) blasts day's quickest at 14:47 with Barstow super 45 (78:09) win

most improved runner? (14:59 behind Mercado's as day heated up) - Chad Hall (Big Bear) another
who had his team back up his 14:58 win with sterling squad performance Div IV (81:05) - Courtney
Lightfoot (Oak Park right) led one of State history's great Div III Girls teams to a 92:54 runner-
up effort with her 18:04 for second (CdM one of nation's great teams ever 89:42 winners!!)

State finalists Ben Sheehan, Taylor Franklin & Kyle Mills-Bunje of St. Francis HS in
Mountain View are high-end vaulters staying in the Golden State for college! Sheehan
is heading to Stanford, with Franklin and Mills-Bunje committing to UC Berkeley! In
other vault news, national-class vaulters Tori Pena of Huntington Beach Edison and
Lindsay Regan of Easton HS in Pennsylvania are going to UCLA. The one that
"got away" is Granite Bay's Scott Roth, who signed with the University of Washington.

 
Huntington Beach Edison's Tori Pena, among the most improved vaulters in the nation
over the last year, is surrounded by (l-to-r) head coach Chris Shields, parents Greg and
Cathy Pena, and vault coach Nate Fox. Tori helps comprise a hugely successful Bruins class!
At right, Burlingame High distance specialist Katie Voigtlander was recruited to run
for the Gauchos of UC Santa Barbara
