Katy Daly's wrong turn early into the WCAL Finals led to her
"meeting" the field well head-on into the race, then her coach had
her repeat the first mile and finish... thus 24:04 for a 3.8- mile
race. Not a bad time! Ben Sitler looked strong to win boys in 14:59!

Campolindo boys/College Park girls survive wars!

photos by Carol Penskar
Start of Girls Varsity - Miramonte Girls Varsity Team

Campolindo boys win over a late charging College Park squad. Chris Vizcaino of Camplindo led
wire to wire. College Park puts five in before any other team's fourth finisher, but Campo's up-
front firepower a la Tom Akita in fourth and Joe Kachlacs eighth proves too much to handle.
Alhambra's Matt Lo Forte, finishing third, looks to have recovered from early season injury.
C
ollege Park girls hold off tough league, including newly energized Miramonte, with frosh sensation
Laine Tanski, as well as the ever tough Cougars of Campolindo with big peformances from Sparky
Murillo and Laurie Finnegan to surprise race favorites Mo Huber of Acalanes and the Falcons'
Eugenie Foote. College Park's pack looks strong, with all 7 in the top 20, and 5 in the top 11.
