Competing amid the rain and in muddy conditions toward the end of the day,
El Toro's Brandon Bethke and Diego Mercado purr along to the mile mark.
Bethke won in 15:06, the fastest time of the day, to lead the Chargers to a
third-place team finish, a few points behind powerful Dana Hills. Great stuff!

Ventura High's girls reaffirmed their position ans the strongest
California girls team in the last 20 years -- if not ever! - in storming
to a runaway victory over national-class teams in the Division I Final!

Royal's boys proved themselves among the premier teams in the nation
with the second-largest Division I margin of victory at the California
state meet with a commanding 65-130 triumph over powerful Dana Hills!

champions in California history! Congrats on the amazing performance!

Dad ran 9:03.0 2 mile for Leigh HS in 1975 (6th State Track - #18 US for year)!!

Nike Team Nationals field is complete
Nov 28 -- The last eight NTN bids were acccepted today, completing the field for the first Nike Team Nationals to be held in Portland next Saturday. Automatic bids were accepted by four California teams after yesterday's state meet -- Royal Simi Valley and Dana Hills boys and Fountain Valley and Thousand Oaks girls. National at large bids were accepted by Cedar Cliff PA and El Toro CA boys and Murrieta Valley CA and Bethlehem NY girls. NTN status table. CA#1 Ventura girls declined an NTN invitation, deciding to close their season with their California State Meet championship yesterday. NTN SELECTION STATUS TABLE
