We're Underway!!!

Dave Casper and Kirby Lee on site in Sacramento!

San Diego HS and UCLA alum Meb Keflezighi (left) wins 10k final
-- he already qualified for the marathon, too! California state TJ  champ
Brittany Daniels of Merrill West HS, advanced to the finals! Muir HS
and USC alum Inger Miller (second from right) won her quarterfinal
heat of the 100! Sara Bei (Montgomery HS, Stanford) advanced to
the 5k final. All in all, a great start for the Californians in Day 1!

Quotable: "(The Trials seem) the same as the other meets-kind of. It's big, it's new, but it's still just jumping. I try not
to pay attention to the crowds. They really don't make me nervous."
16-year-old Brittany Daniels, who made the TJ Final.

  • The Good: Meb Keflezighi wins the first final, the 10k!
  • The Bad: Injury forces Bob Kennedy to not finish 10k.
  • The Ugly: 1) Jeff Hartwig eliminated from the PV due to time expiration on last attempt! 2) Injury forces Dathan Ritzenhein to place last in 10k -- might advance due to already achieving Olympic Games "A" standard.
