In 1976, Sports Illustrated's premier writer, Frank Deford, dubbed him, "The Mouth That Soars", because he both flew over the high bar in competition, and spoke articulately about a variety of issues. Dwight Stones has continued his outspoken nature with a career in television broadcasting, sharing his expertise in the world of athletic competition, while expanding into the arena of business.

His athletic credentials are impressive. Ten times he set the World Record in the High Jump. He won Bronze medals in both the 1972 and 1976 Olympic Games. In 1984, at the age of 30, he made his unprecedented third Olympic team when he set his 13th American Record to win the Olympic Trials.

No American has dominated the event like Dwight Stones. During his 16 year career, he won an incredible 19 National Championship titles. He was twice voted World Indoor Athlete of the Year, by Track & Field News, and remains history's All-Time #1 Ranked American High Jumper. Recently, the highest honor in the sport was bestowed upon Dwight. He was inducted into the United States Track & Field Hall of Fame.

Since retiring from competition in 1988, Dwight has concentrated his efforts on a career in television broadcasting and motivational speaking. He has been a color analyst for all three major networks, covering sporting events around the globe. In 1988, 1992, 1996, and 2000 he covered the most celebrated athletic competitions in the world, the Summer Olympic Games from Seoul, Barcelona, Atlanta, and Sydney for NBC Sports. He was also the first and only athlete to both compete and announce at the same Olympics when he worked for ABC Sports at the 1984 Los Angeles Games.

Recently, Dwight was an integral part of NBC's 1999 World Track and Field Championships coverage from Seville, Spain that won an Emmy for "Best Live Event Turnaround."

Over the past ten years, Dwight has been diversifying his television assignments to concentrate more effort on becoming a host/play by play announcer. Aside from his work in track & field, he has done play by play on: tennis, baseball, badminton, gymnastics, volleyball, boxing, wrestling, and marathons. Recently, Dwight hosted the "web" coverage of the track and field portion of the 2000 Paralympic Games from Sydney, further establishing himself as one of the pioneers in this new entertainment and information technology.

Due to the status he achieved as a world class athlete, and his visibility as a television commentator, Dwight maintains close ties to the current "Superstars" of sport, which enables him to share the "inside secrets" on athletes and their accomplishments.

In 1980, Dwight was invited to speak on the "Olympic Boycott" to audiences throughout America, and during this period, he came to realize his ability to inspire people to reach out for greater results in their own personal and professional lives.

Dwight Stones has worked as a Master of Ceremonies, keynote speaker, lecturer, clinician, and dinner speaker for small audiences of twenty to conventions of 5,000. Although he always adapts his programs to his audience, his topics include:
